Background

Current location: Atlanta, GA

Where are you from? Born in New Jersey, raised in Orlando, FL

Education: University of Central Florida | Event Management

Business & Formal Title: Girly + Inspired | Brand + Visual Stylist

What is Girly + Inspired? Girly + Inspired is a design + creative lifestyle blog and the brand I operate under as a freelancer styling creative brand experiences.

What did you do before? I still have a full-time job as a Visual Stylist for a major retailer which I love!

What did you think you’d be doing now whenever you were 10? When I was 10? Wow. Well, if it were up to my 10-year old self I’d be married with lots of babies! Yes, “house” was my favorite game. Ha!

Is Girly + Inspired your dream job? If not, what else is in the works? Girly + Inspired will be my dream job. I once heard that the perfect job doesn’t exist, you have create it, and that’s what I’m doing. Creating it.

Are you involved in any side hustles, ladypreneur collabs or baby projects? Tell us about them. Actually, I am. Soon I’ll be launching Creative Girls ATL with another Atlanta creative lady (wink, wink). It’s purpose is to bring together all the creative girls in Atlanta through lifestyle workshops for the creative girl!

The Grind

What does your daily routine consist of? Well, when I’m not working my full-time job, I like to lay around in bed for a while checking emails, reading blog posts, and responding on social media profiles until about 10:00 or 11:00 (yeah, definitely not an early morning person). Sometimes I like to do this with a cup of hot tea. Once I’m up, I eat breakfast, and then start editing my blog post for the day before I post it. That normally doesn’t take long, so once that’s done I start working on my client projects. Gotta meet those deadlines! Around about 2:00, I take a break, watch a little TV, and get a bite to eat (this is assuming I have no errands to run). At about 4:00, I’m back at it brainstorming new ideas for Girly + Inspired, studio and blog, and if I’m close to a deadline, I’ll continue working on client projects. My stopping point varies depending on the day. If I have to run any errands that day it may be around 12:00, but if I’m home the majority of the day, it could be around 9:00 or 10:00. Yes, I know I need to work on that, but when inspiration strikes, I can’t break my groove. Honestly, most of my inspiration comes at night! Once I’m done for the day, I try my best to unwind and get some rest for the next day.

How do you balance work and life and is that actually even possible? There is somewhat of a balance. My work is my life sometimes so it’s hard to break away from it completely. I mean, it doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I’m always thinking about design and branding. It’s crazy! With that said though, I definitely still make time for myself and loved ones.

You have to do it and you hate it – what is your least favorite task to do at Girly + Inspired? Anything that has to do with accounting! :(

Ladypreneur Living

What are your favorite business lady apps? I can’t live without Evernote. I use it to compose all my blog posts. Bloglovin’ is awesome. I was an avid Google Reader girl but I’ve grown to love this app. As a designer, I love to read and keep up with other designers through their blogs. Pinterest has become my best friend when it comes to inspiration. I use it to curate images for client moodboards and it hasn’t failed me yet. I tend to get a lot done when listening to music so Pandora is my go-to. Finally there’s Instagram. There’s nothing like capturing life and inspiration and putting a cute filter over it!

Top 5 favorite cities? Of course Atlanta. There’s so much thriving and growing. For the beach and sunshine, I love Miami. When it comes to good shopping NYC is my pick. Love the lights and tall buildings. Orlando is home so I will always have a love for that city. Cities that are on my list to visit are New Orleans, LA, Seattle, and Sydney, Australia!

Red, White or Sparkling? Sparkling! The Cupcake brand is ah-mazing!

Tell us the best place to eat in your city. If it’s your kitchen, share your favorite/best recipe. While there are so many delicious places to eat in Atlanta, I'd have to say my kitchen is best (when I do cook). My favorite recipe (my boyfriend loves it too by-the-way) is my bacon and apple stuffed porkchops with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh sauteed green beans with a special secret ingredient. Sooo yummy, especially with a glass of wine! :)

Words to live by: Never take yourself too seriously and never chase your career. Your career should chase you.

In 5 years you’ll be: an owner of a successful design studio, designing amazing visual brand experiences for the fashion, beauty, and home decor, and offering visual styling services to my boutique/shop clients!

On being a woman entrepreneur: Women have a natural innate, strength that’s incomparable. So running a business is what we were built to do. Whether your business is your household or a boutique, we were made for this, and what can I say? We’re on a roll now, honey! No more glass ceilings!
